OOTD: laid-back Khaleeji abaya style with linen in squares

OOTD, or should we say, the abaya-du-jour?: casual, cool, and lazy, as the best dressing always is.

Wide sleeve  no-name abaya with linen insert panels in squares. I wore it with the comfiest leather and linen sandals ever created by man, a Russian-doll cross-shoulder purse, studded cuff, and my favourite shade of nailpolish. When it comes to manicures, if baby pink or nude goes with sundresses  then black is the abaya-wearing girl's bestfriend, assured to match--and more "stylista" than "vamp" when you don abaya daily.

STYLISH SISTERS: Dana Al Khalifa of the Overdressed.com

I have featured Bahraini style blogger Dana Al Khalifa before on my list of favourite MiddleEastern fashion blogs that don't involve abayas. I love her style philosophy, which is quite simple: "overdress". I also envy her collection of Sofia Al Asfoor handbags. Visit her blog www.theoverdressed.com to see what I mean in terms of jewelry. This woman knows her rings and tennis bracelets.

STYLISH SISTERS: meet Gigi, aka Ghada, of the Qatari brand, The Kayys

Meet Ghada, aka Gigi, of http://www.styleblogbygigi.com/, Qatari designer of the t-shirt brand FML2 and partner in label, The Kayys, whose Ramadan "let them eat cake" collection we so loved.
Apparently she is a big fan of vintage YSL. For more photos, please see and follow her blog and label's instagram: The Kayys

SHOPPING IN OMAN: Bright Khaleeji Serving Trays for the Kitchen

My kitchen is totally white. So I needed a little colour. These pretty and traditional painted metal serving trays [2 OMR each from Rameez in Seeb] do the trick nicely.

SHOPPING IN OMAN: Pretty pink glassware

I love colourful glassware. I collect Moroccan tea glasses, but am always short when it comes to water glasses for guests. I found these beauties above in a set of six (although four remain, because I believe two year olds deserve to learn how to hold and handle glass from a young age) from Al Ain Gifts in Seeb Souq for less than 2 OMR!!!! I want to go back for the other colours.

MY OWN PHOTOS: a glamorous Wednesday, whether warranted or not

I woke up late Wednesday morning. The result was indulgence to laziness. Finish off an entire box of Swiss chocolate, and to wash it down with a white grape non-alcoholic sparkling water. Even the Bint (my two year old little Princess) concurred, and we lazed in the sunlight flowing in from our newly installed curtains. The Masterbedroom is almost done its make-over: all that remains is to change the hardware on the wardrobe, buy new bedding, change the light fixtures and install a bathtub in the master bedroom. An early celebration? I consider it allowed and warranted.

From Muscat. on a grey day

It is grey day in Muscat today, cold, after wind and rain. Nothing is more enjoyable than those simple pleasures: staying under cover, a warm cup of coffee, a hand to hold...
