To Crush a Rumour: one of UAE's Omani spies WAS NOT the head of internal security

So as Muscat Confidential just blogged the news is out. Oman busted some traitors who turned on Oman for a UAE paycheck, and UAE, of course, denies any involvement whatsoever.

I just want to nay say the rumour going on that one of these fellas so busted WAS NOT the HEAD OF INTERNAL SECURITY, but he did work for them.

Long before this post was out the entire village and all of Omani Internal Security already knew this guy was a spy. And as far as rumours go, a patriotic family member who ALSO works for the gov. turned the guy in, and a co-worker from his office, ***not Iran***.

This guy, whose entire name and geneology I am not going to post, since, well, no one else in his tribe/family is a spy, and no one from his village really ever liked him all that much anyway, and his own mother I'm sure wasn't surprised to hear he turned on his Sultan and country for the bling bling ching ching, worked for Internal Security. You see, I know this, because Oman, and especially where we are all from therein, is a very village-like place. His name is Abdullah.

Your Majesty, if you are reading this, you should give me Abdullah's passport. I would die to protect Oman and I love this place, and especially the village that this man betrayed. And who weren't all that surprised, though I am sure his very sweet family is quite ashamed. I know his tribe is, which is why I won't damage tourism or the jobs these innocent folks of the same geneology in government positions by posting more than his first name.

Dear Friends not in Oman, do not worry. Though I often end up in the midst of every trouble, and if something strange is going to happen to someone, it happens to me, I am not in the middle of some crazy Omani spy ring;) so don't worry. That ring of corrupt UAE airport police running drugs and prostitutes in Abu Dhabi Aalia & I infiltrated quite by accident was SOOOOOOOOO last year. ;). You can believe me when I say, I am fine and 100% back to being normal now, and quite safe, alhamdulilah. Aalia too. In fact, she was offered a job in law enforcement a while ago.

Well, anyways, how DID they know what Abdullah was up to?

Well, he was already known to care alot about money. UAE gave him an offer, and by this time, Internal Security ALREADY knew of the offer from one of Abdullah's tribe and his co-workers, so they fed Abdullah a CD containing fake intell, and when Abdullah went to deposit his pay-off from UAE in Bank Muscat {how stupid can you get?---actually, I don't know for SURE if it was Bank Muscat, but mostly everyone from their tribe uses Bank Muscat, so I am assuming} the 70, 000-77, 000 {I was told the exact number by a very reliable source in the family but forgot the exact ammount already} kind of gave him away.

WHAT information he was trying to get for UAE, and what intell they wanted, would be the more interesting, and more important question, than WHO IS HE, since, well, he's in jail now, and not likely getting out anytime soon. The government knows who he is, and he isn't high enough to be given a consulting job anytime soon now; ; So don't worry about him.

Before the news was ever out, his village knew, but kept hushed, because it is a shame you know? Wouldn't want to be him. But his fam is awfully nice, so don't hate! :D

Abdulla should be treated as a traitor. Nationality should not be descriminating/saving factor. It is about time all crimes/criminals/traitors in Oman are named and shamed. This will also ensure glorification of Omanis will be cut to proper size.

Anon: Sure, but for the less educated Omanis, they then would associate the name (i.e) tribe with the crime, and no one else in the crime is a criminal.

And Abdullah isn't getting out of jail, so whether or not anyone knows who he is, he can't effect the population anymore now can he, really?

I don't think shaming a tribe or family would do anything to stop such men. They don't really care about their tribe or identity that much, that's the thing about traitors. Maybe for theives (as they say, there is honor among theives) but traitors generally don't have such a saying;D

I meant *no one else in the tribe* not in the crime.

Naming Abdullah would associate his tribe with being traitors, which, they are not. And make it harder for decent [insert tribe name and family name] persons who love Oman to get government jobs. When it shouldn't.

Which is why, even though I KNOW his name I won't be the one to write it. I know the implications of doing so.

But please note, if I thought the person would be a repeat offender or got off to easy for their crime, I'd shame him in a second.

In this case, Abdullah's permanent disapearence, seems an apt enough punishment for treason, and I don't think this is a case of a chance at a repeat offense. Justice is served well enough in this case I believe.

Salaam. In the US traitors are given a death sentence. I do not know what the laws of Islam calls for in this instance but compromising the security of a nation is something beyond a normal crime. It can impact the lives of millions of people.

Insha'Allah this man is treated justly by the laws of Islam and not hte laws of man. Ma salaama...

tell us about the abudhabi airport thng!

Um Aaminah: I agree, inshaAllah. Ameen.

Scarlet Pimpernel: Really, you don't want to know. It involved me jumping off a jet ski in the middle of the night, and swimming the Abu Dhabi harbour in an awesome escape move, and Aalia bluffing herself out of a bad situation. Thankfully, I could pretend I was Beduoin, and lucky for us, the corrupt cops were also pretty drunk, so drunk that their jet skis floated away on them and they drove their 4x4 pick up right into the harbour, so they couldn't tell that Aalia was bluffing. Since they didn't know who we were everything worked out okay in the end, and honestly, we just wanted to go jet skiing at Emirates Palace hotel. We are no super sleuths lol. Alhamdulilah, we ended up safe. I hate Emirates anyways. I haven't seen any good fair justice come out of there, though there are some nice Emiratis.

Great post and thanks for sharing. What I have been told is that they were spying on members who were a bit too pro-iran.

The confusion of head of ISS: This Abdullah guy has a similar name to the head of ISS (abdalla alkalbani). I think thats the source of the confusion.

Its shocking that he took his money and put it straight into the bank! You would have thought this guy would have been more smarter.

Smart move by ISS feeding him fake intel - shows you that they are not sleeping. Any news on the others rounded up? Were they all from ISS?

There's actually a lot more to it, and lot of stuff I can't actually go into publicly.

Drop me a line if time permits: eye.on.middleeast "at" gmail dot co m

Middleeast Watch: I honestly don't know anyone who got a chance to ask what Abdullah's UAE "buddies" wanted from Internal Security but they were indeed smart to give him fake intel, and he was pretty dumb to put the whole sum straight into his bank account. From a bank staffed by those who know his family & friends alas. Gossip was sure to proceed.

Kind of a similiar name, maybe there is some mix up? but the spy that I am sure of, he was no head of intel for sure.

I have written all I know but the name and exact bank sum ammount. Any bank Muscat employee could thus figure it out if I said the date and how much so I won't either, now that I have been reminded of the precise sum by village & family gossip.

I don't know any of the other traitors, but I know 2 regions, Dhofar and Ad Dhakliyah, where spies were confirmed from, though I don't know the name of the one not from the region of Abdullah personally. Though for sure, there were more, and not all from Internal Security... soooo. Whose to say?

Keep us informed:D

I am finding your blog very interesting though. Keep it up!:)

@opno - sometimes u come off as super nationalistic which Is not really setting a good example to other Muslims. I'm sure this country Oman has as many flaws as any other and the mere fact u would "die to protect Oman" seems a little over the top for soemthing as pathetic as a country or ruler. Don't play with words that u don't mean.

Omani Princess (not Omani LOL) said...

Anon April 20th: Just so you know, OPNO the blog has 3 authoresses, sometimes 4, and one of them is not even a MUslim soooooo...

I am a Muslim, and Oman is not perfect, of course, but I would die for it. It is my home and Islam gives me the right to defend it anyways. I love things in the culture. I say, take the good of it, leave the bad. I wouldn't die for the ruler, ect, but to protect the good of this land, and what is my home. Please don't misread words or try and pass judement on others okay?

Nationalism is saying that people and their borders are superior to another country. I don't have that. I just said I like it here better, and don't experience rampant nationalism like I did in UAE.

Hope you are well. Have you have heard anything about the fate of those accused of spying for the UAE - if they have been tried or sentenced (or pardoned etc).

Kind Regards

ME Watch: Hello, no I haven't heard anything. The guy isn't back home yet though so I am assuming he's still in prison.
