salaamu aliakum...lovely but the prob with those way lush abaya brands is dang...where will you really wear them? seriously? Unless you have an insane social life that requires you to dress up in such fancy abayaat...c'mon. Like in Saudi. 99% of women would never dare dream of wearing anything too fancy or eye catching even to the mall-and u know like I do...the mall is THE social hub for Saudi society...but like those few women who you;d see around looking like peacocks got an excessive amount of attention and were even sometimes bothered by the haia as well. Thos women who were well off-and the EP has a LOT of wealth-oil land that it is...would generally wear PLAIN abayaat or almost plain with max, maybe some stones or embroidery on the cuffs/collar you could indeed tell at first glance that these were rich women in expensive abayaat but they werent excessive or bling or scream wealth or whatever else. I donno, maybe UAE and Qatar are different...and while someday I would maybe love one of their abayaat...really though, where would one wear one? eegads!Imagine parading a western mall in such an abaya. wow!LOL
Um Ibrahim: In Oman, they wear them for weddings, to go from the car to the hotel where the wedding party is, or as a dignatary or corporate representative (honestly, I have to do this for my work on occasion), and but in UAE they really do wear them out to the malls or for dinners out with husbands ect..
